The First Eight Weeks
We raise all our puppies in our home with lots of love, attention, and kisses.
Our mommas and babies are fed high-quality dog food and our puppy areas are cleaned and sanitized often. The health of each of our dogs are monitored closely- all to create a happy, healthy and well rounded puppy that is ready to join your family!
Birth to Day 16:
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
What is ENS? ENS is the application of daily, gentle exercises that apply slight stressors to the puppy for seconds at a time.
Why do ENS?? ENS strengthens the puppy’s heart, and neurological system—hence the name. Puppies who experienced ENS at a young age have been shown to have stronger heart beats, improved tolerance to stress and a greater resistance to disease.
Early Scent Introduction (ESI)
What is ESI? ESI is the daily introduction of new scents; scents the puppy otherwise wouldn’t normally encounter this early in their development, which accelerates their scent development.
Why do ESI?? A dog's strongest sense is their sense of smell-- you could even say they “see” the world through their nose. ESI is proven to greatly enhance a pup's smell-ability which creates a more aware and alert companion. For pups that go on to become service or therapy dogs, it means greater capability to serve their people, and dogs that are pets just get to have the benefit of increased brain function.
Day 16 to Going home:
Desensitization Exercises
We expose our puppies to a wide variety of age appropriate sound, smells, and textures to help build a resilient dog.
Startle Recovery - Puppies have a strong startle reflex Desensitizing puppies to sounds and sights and building up their abilities to recover after being startled.
Touch Tolerance - Desensitizing puppies to having all areas of their bodies touched, handled and groomed. This is especially important since we raise doodles and poodles who will need to be groomed their whole life.
Socialization - Acclimating puppies to people, smells, textures, sights, and sounds in a positive way. This begins with us and continues in the pups forever home.
*Important note: Optimum desensitization/ socialization period is prior to sixteen (16) weeks of age.* So the process starts here with us during the first eight weeks, and is continued in each individual forever home.
Introduction to Potty Training
We use the Misty Method to introduce our puppies to the first concepts of potty-training to help them transition to their forever homes!
